Moving Neon

Moving Neon experiments to emancipate cold cathode lighting from it's traditional and conventional form. CCL's connection with the glass tube, the foundation material for creating any neon work, is the departure point. Processes are reinvented using sheet glass, slumping, fusing, cold construction, painting and phosphors with intent to find new expressive realisations using this unique light medium.

Due to strict regimental process required for the medium’s function, experimental and experiential approach was conducted. Instituting unorthodox approach in this opened up the eccentricities involved in working with the light phenomenon - neon. This allowed the challenged of technical means upon which neon light relies so heavily on. The research is long drawn and yield's little or no breakthroughs but makes apparent non-technical or non-utopic possibilities  engrained within processing certain creative mediums.
